Sto and Northstar flying high at Manchester Airport’s new Terminal

Northstar client Sto Ltd’s black StoVentec Glass could be seen on ITV Granada’s Sunday programme as the construction of Manchester Airport’s Terminal 2 continues. Aligning themselves with Northstar three years ago for the launch of their StoGlass Rainscreen campaign.

Getting underway the advertisement of the bomb-blast tested rainscreen cladding system which is used in public safety systems such as the London Underground, Sto has now been specified for the multi million-pound Terminal Two extension at Manchester Airport.

Having partnered with MIACAM, a company that also provides blast-proof wall panels, the pair have combined forces to offer customers solutions for each of the issues they face. This comes after revisions to the maintenance and upkeep of public safety zones after terrorist attacks at the Manchester Arena and Brussels Airport.

“The requirements have become a lot more stringent for public safety areas. Everything before a passenger passes through the barriers will be bombproof and car bombproof.” Emma Russell, Northstar Account Director, said, “Together Sto and MICAM have got the perfect package of products that meet all the needs for each aspect of the regulations.”

Each piece of Sto and MICAM product is being prepared to be installed in the new Manchester Airport terminal and will be both visually attractive, as well as offering practical safety for both passengers and staff.

Northstar has also been asked by Sto Limited to work with them to produce a case study that will be used to academically describe how the companies’ products are competent for use in other public environments. Also asked to create an accompanying PowerPoint presentation based on the case study’s findings.

Currently working with Manchester Airport to gather all of the case study details, Northstar expect that the book will be completed in January. Northstar is also working with Sto on their product price list, as well as the development of their decorative facades range.
