Promoting a partnership for protection

Long-time Northstar client Sto, who specialise in external insulation, cladding and render systems, have been involved in one of the North’s most high profile construction projects – Manchester Airport’s Terminal 2 expansion– providing façade systems alongside Irish company MICAM.

Stronger together

Both Sto and MICAM are market-leading innovators and offer fully-tested blast-resistant systems – and on the Terminal 2 project developed a complementary, close working relationship. Seeing that this could benefit both parties by offering architects a ‘one-stop solution’ for such potentially vulnerable infrastructure projects, they asked Northstar to create a jointbrochure promoting the partnership.

Proven performance

The brochure went on to outline both companies’ credentials in this area, together with technical details that demonstrated the relevant systems’ performance.

Informative infographics

The brochure used a mix of photography and infographics to get important details across, including an extensive study of what was required for the Terminal 2 project.

35m passengers will use T2 every year, so to protect them the systems needed to be ASIAD-compliant

T2 will become the airport’s main centre of gravity, leading to particularly high passenger volumes

Heavy passenger traffic means panels have to withstand substantial impacts, with no trolley guards needed

Design flexibility was essentialto incorporate signage and aesthetic schemes
